Rev. Heather will be holding a pre-Advent Bible study on the FOUR Thursdays in November at 1 pm. The study is called “A Child is Born” and will examine the connections between ancient birth stories and the Nativity of Jesus, using material from Jewish professor and author, Amy-Jill Levine. Levine is the first Jewish professor of New Testament to teach at Rome’s Pontifical Biblical Institute and describes herself as “an orthodox member of an Orthodox Synagogue who taught New Testament in a Christian divinity school in the buckle of the Bible Belt.”
Table Talk Conversations can be powerful. They can evoke hope, inspire dreams, and challenge opinions. Table Talk will be a safe space for conversations over a pot-luck meal when we will examine ideas of faith in our current culture, especially what it means to be “Christian”. Table Talk will be held at 6pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Next conversation will take place on November 12th.
Camp in November! We will host Camp Sunday on November 23rd with staff and friends of Camp Cairn participating in our service. The Session at Knox has also chosen Camp Cairn to be our mission focus during the season of Advent so we can continue to support children wishing to go to camp. Special donations to our Camp Fund can be made by e-transfer or using offering envelopes. Please be sure to indicate “Camp Cairn” on your gift.

Bracebridge’s Out of the Cold program offers hot meals, produce, and toiletries on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This ministry is based out of Bracebridge United Church but is run by volunteers from several churches and community groups. Volunteers assist in the kitchen with meal preparation or help with set up/serving/clean up. Please see Rev. Heather if you’d like to help out.
Help choose the songs we sing at Knox! You’re invited to write down your hymn requests in the purple binder at the back of the sanctuary and our Worship Planning Committee will endeavour to include your suggestions in our coming worship services.
