Celebration of Life for Bruce Barnes
We gather to celebrate the life of Bruce Barnes, beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend. The following is Bruce’s obituary:
April 3, 1966 – February 28, 2022 It is with terrible sadness that the family of Bruce Puxon Barnes aka “Pux” of Brighton, Ontario, announces his peaceful passing at Kingston General Hospital on February 28, 2022 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 55 years. Despite being taken far too early, he managed to live his life to the fullest. He leaves behind his wife Anna-Lisa (McAnally), and daughters Moira and Chloe of whom he was so very proud. He is missed by his parents Michael and Janice, sister Salena (Robert), brother Robert (Joanne) and many nieces and nephews. He was a proud and dedicated member of the Canadian Armed Forces and veteran of the wars in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan and retired recently from the Warfare Centre, CFB Trenton as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Royal Canadian Air Force. His many postings allowed his family to enjoy living and travelling in different parts of the US, Europe and Canada. In his later years he taught as a part-time adjunct professor both remotely and overseas with the University of Oklahoma. He was an avid Blue Jays fan from Day One and always enjoyed both loving and hating the team as a true fan always should. He will forever be remembered as a loyal friend, loving brother and son and most of all, a caring and devoted family man. He will be missed for the joy, humour and friendship he brought to our lives in so many different ways that we haven’t even begun to realize. A Celebration of Life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 120 Taylor Road, Bracebridge on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. The service will be conducted by The Rev. Dr. Heather Malnick and the Rev. Michael Barnes. If you are so inclined to make a donation, please grace The Canadian Cancer Society.
