March 10th – What are we UP to? This week – light UP
There are certain passages of scripture that have become known as "clobber verses" - used to clobber people over the head to prove a certain point of view. The passage we examine this week - John 3:16 - can become a clobber passage, especially when we fail to consider the historical and cultural context in which it was written. We're encourage to light UP the lives of others by using scripture to share love - not to clobber others over the head.
We also celebrate the sacrament of baptism in this service, welcoming Ryker Gerow and Felicity Clement to the family of faith.
